Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK has a long-standing and successful relationship with RWE Renewables which dates back to 2009.

The Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm was the first project on which Jones Bros and RWE worked together, with the Ruthin-headquartered company completing infrastructure at the substation in St Asaph.

Works carried out for the 160-turbine project, which generates enough power for 500,000 homes, included the installation of drainage, site access works and site clearance.

Jones Bros was the principal contractor on RWE’s Clocaenog Forest Wind Farm, which comprised 27 turbines and provides renewable electricity equivalent to the needs of 63,000 homes.

Located less than 10 miles from the wind farm, Jones Bros constructed and upgraded 28km of tracks, built crane hard standings, installed cabling to connect the turbines to the grid, and completed the substation and reinstatement works.

The civil engineering firm was also appointed to deliver the onshore converter station enabling works package for the 100-turbine Sofia Offshore Wind Farm, sited on Dogger Bank in the middle of the North Sea, more than 190 kilometres from the North East coast.

Activity included providing load bearing working platforms for the converter stations, new road access points, welfare and storage areas, a drainage system, and associated utilities.
